Far from London, we “summered” in England’s Lake District with some biking, hiking and hanging out with family. Mona Khalid, thanks for letting us crash your anniversary weekend (and your London flat)!
The Lake District was way out of the way (a 9 hour road trip from London) but a lot of fun. Peaceful and scenic, things like Brexit and the tube seem like alien concepts here. We were lucky enough to get rained on for half a day (always so much fun!), but the sun eventually came up, and we were soon sweating by the end of the day on the steep hills.
In London, we basically ate our way through the city – from fish & chips and mushy peas, Chandon and fine dining, to Indian curries at the famous Tayaab’s and over-eating hipster ethnic food at Pop Brixton. Pop Brixton is London’s latest pop-up food scene made up of shipping container restaurants instead of food trucks, and is definitely worth a visit!
